Welcome to the Temple of the Obsidian Moon
At Obsidian Moon, we believe that exploring diverse faiths and religions broadens our perspectives and enriches our lives. Our mission is to provide a sanctuary dedicated to open-minded discussion and the respectful study of varied beliefs and practices. While we hold a special place for all practitioners of the "night paths," our doors remain open to everyone.
Our founders, Father and Brother Nightwell, believe that for too long, we have been divided by our faiths, persecuted for our abilities, and shunned because our gods bear different names. The Nightwells maintain that all faiths should be practiced openly and encouraged. However, should we be forced to hide or remain in the shadows, they have established this sanctuary—a place where we can all be free. The Temple of the Obsidian Moon was founded to ensure that freedom.
The Temple offers a variety of services, including daily devotions and annual pagan sabbats. Our weekly sermons have evolved to reflect our diverse community; they are now centered on universal themes of magic and spirit, drawing from the myriad cultures and traditions that pass through our halls.
Support and Community We remain dedicated to our community’s well-being. We continue to offer full supportive services via our chat lines; if you are feeling overwhelmed or struggling, please reach out. While it may take a moment for us to respond, please know that once we do, you will have our full, undivided attention for as long as you need it. If you are facing mistreatment from others, we are always here to lend a hexing hand.
Furthermore, the Temple is proud to extend its support network beyond our digital walls. We now offer dedicated jailhouse correspondence to anyone in the country who needs a connection to the outside world, a friendly ear, or spiritual guidance.
The Magic Library The Temple of the Obsidian Moon also houses a unique collection of esoteric texts. Access to our magic library is granted to temple patrons upon achieving full membership.
Our Vision of the Future
With the number of practitioners on the rise—some statistics now estimate over a million witches in the United States alone—the Nightwells believe the time has come for our Temple to have a permanent, physical foundation. We envision a structure as resilient as our community, built to stand strong against the coming storm.
We seek a space where we may all gather for our ceremonies and sermons, and where we may offer true sanctuary to the wayward members of our flock. We envision a home grand enough to serve as a beacon for the next generation, where we can teach our children the Old Ways and bring them closer to the Old Gods. By guiding them along their own paths through the dark, we safeguard the future of our craft.
This vision has been revealed to both the Nightwells, and it is a destiny that will come to pass. By all the powers of the night, it shall be done!
Why the Obsidian Moon?

Many ask why our Temple bears the name of the Obsidian Moon, and the answer lies in the profound symbolism of the name itself. Like the volcanic glass it honors, the Obsidian Moon represents both perfect darkness and perfect reflection—a mirror that reveals not merely what is, but what is waiting to become.
Obsidian is forged in moments of intense transformation, when fire meets earth to create something entirely new. In this same way, the Obsidian Moon represents that sacred space between what was and what will be—the moment of infinite potential where true magic is born. It is the dark mirror of our deepest truths and the well of wisdom that reflects starlight back as boundless possibilities.
In our tradition, the Obsidian Moon is not merely a celestial body, but a state of consciousness: the perfect equilibrium between light and shadow where transformation becomes inevitable. It is the dark moon of new beginnings, the mirror of self-knowledge, and the gateway between worlds. Like the volcanic glass used for scrying since antiquity, it offers both protection and revelation, grounding and transcendence.
We gather under its light because it embodies everything our magic aspires to be: deep as the earth's mysteries, reflective as still water, transformative as fire, and vast as the night sky. It reminds us that the greatest magic often begins in darkness, much like seeds sprouting in black soil or stars shining with the greatest intensity against the void.
The Obsidian Moon teaches us that wisdom is often veiled in shadow, that power requires both beauty and depth, and that magic flows most strongly in the spaces between—between light and dark, between the seen and the unseen, between the mundane and the mysterious.
This is why our temple bears this name. We strive to be that sacred space where transformation is fostered, where wisdom emerges from the shadow, and where magic flows between worlds like starlight on dark water. Under the watching gaze of the Obsidian Moon, we embrace both the mysteries that can be spoken and those that must remain sacredly silent, knowing that in their perfect balance lies the heart of all true magic.
